What’s Your Big Three?

If you’ve noticed an increase in astrology memes and tarot card spreads on your social media feeds over the past couple years, you’re not alone. Divination and spiritual arts have been gaining trend traction especially amongst Millennials and Gen Z, but with the more mature and skeptical demographics of Gen X and even Boomers as well. Questions like “What’s your Big 3?” and “What’s your crush’s Venus in?” are as commonplace in some circles these days as “What do you do for work?” and “Are you going anywhere for the holidays?”

Amidst a 24/7 news cycle with what feels like 99% politics, pandemics, and bad news, it’s not surprising that so many folks are searching for guidance or answers in the stars or in their own hands. And for generations who have increasingly turned away from formal religion, spiritual practices offer a sense of connection to something bigger that doesn’t come with an angle of shame or fear-mongering. Spirituality and mysticism offer tools for self discovery, planning, and reflection, along with a sense of connection to peers who also speak the language of the stars and ancestors from centuries before who heeded the wisdom of the planets.

What goes into a great tarot or astrological reading?

Tarot and astrological chart readings require a unique combination of tapping into the energy of the collective while zooming in on an individual’s very personal experience. Mystical readings are much more in-depth than a “pop astrology” style daily horoscope; astrologers are able to rather quickly notice patterns and threads between the current sky’s energy and the energy that was present the moment their recipient was born. Much like becoming fluent in a foreign language, an in-depth knowledge of mystical arts can take years of study. In fact, many astrologers and spiritual practitioners consider themselves lifetime students of the craft, forever expanding their knowledge and understanding of the energetic workings of the universe.

And as students with the perpetual beginner’s mind, certain mystics also enjoy the improvised nature of one on one and group interactions at events to inspire guests and leave them filled with awe at forces greater than themselves. Ars Poetica represents many of these type of mystical artistic entertainers from New York City to Los Angeles, from Louisville to Miami.

Poetry Meets Divination at Creative Events

A spiritual practitioner’s gifts, much like any poet’s, are in both channeling and interpreting. It’s one thing to understand the forces behind a planetary forecast or the meaning of a tarot spread, but another entirely to translate it into a message that is impactful for the recipient. Similar to typing a poem on the spot after engaging in a thoughtful conversation, mystic practitioners must be skilled at delivering a meaningful message in ways that will resonate with its individual recipient. There is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all response for a once-in-a-lifetime  exchange.

When engaging in an intuitive reading, the recipient and practitioner agree to a sacred understanding: by giving the practitioner a glimpse into the inner workings of their spirit, the recipient agrees to be seen, to let their day-to-day guard down and allow themselves to be vulnerable. In return, the practitioner takes great care of the interaction by holding the information they’re given by the recipient and the mystic insights they gain with reverence and intentionality. A reading leaves both parties feeling more connected to the collective and to the mystical forces of the universe.

Spooky Season: Time for Tarot and astrology

Autumn and spooky season are upon us. Leaves are turning, nights are getting longer, and the veil is getting thin. October and November are the perfect time to book what we at Ars Poetica call an Astro Poet or Tarot Poet.

As Ars Poetica artist and mystic Caitlin Muelder put it:

“Autumn is indeed the season of The Witch: Pumpkin Spice is rooted in ancient spell recipes, the ritual of casting our votes is akin to casting our intentions, and the power of transformation is held sacred -- even one is simply shapeshifting into a ‘naughty-donut’ costume.”

Ars Poetica’s special touch

With an Ars Poetica Astro or Tarot Poetry experience, guests can expect all of the wonder and talent of an on-the-spot custom poem experience coupled with a mystical twinkle that can be customized for any type of event environment.

Your poet will spend some time interpreting the guest’s birth chart or tarot spread, deliver a channeled reading, and commemorate the messages that came up with a one-of-a-kind typewritten poem. And our streamlined practice allows all this to take place for each guest in a mere 5-7 minutes. Ephemeral, and effective.

And if you’re hosting an event that likes to take a cheekier or more humorous look at the themes of the season, we’ve also delighted audiences with Haunted Haiku, poetic epitaphs and obituaries, and customized secular rituals that elevate the intentionality of any candy apple-fueled festivity.

The stars and cards are speaking.

Light a candle and let us write you a poem transforming their whispers into embodied words.
