By writers, for everyone

After 1.5 years of research, testing, design, and development, we are currently Kickstarting Scribe to sell the first 250 copies of the game! By supporting the project, you'll be one of the first people in the world to play Scribe, and we'll be asking for feedback on the game before we mass produce and distribute it globally in 2024.

a game best played on a healthy planet

Long-lasting design

The rigid box design and varnished cards mean this game will be safe and strong for years (generations?) to come.

Environmentally friendly factories

Our printer makeplayingcards.com has been great to work with. The inks that they use for printing are majority soy based and they use water based varnishing to protect the cards. Additionally, their company and production facilities conforms to a host of international standards and operate in a socially accountable manner.

Sustainable Distribution

Scribe is small, light, and easy to ship, with no unnecessary additional plastic packaging, and are made using recycled paper.

For our mass-produced deck, we're committed to raising our standard for production even higher, with all recycled materials and renewable energy.

Trees!

Did you know we love trees? We will plant a tree with Arbor Day for every deck sold.

Pre-Order Scribe on Kickstarter: Decks will ship in May 2023!

We invented Scribe because we believe that unhindered creativity, meaningful connections and authentic conversations can change the world. We are more than just a game - we are a movement of curious and innovative thinkers who embrace our power to unplug from the algorithm, pick up a pen, and play.

A game for future generations

Right now, we're thrilled just to have completed this project, and for the opportunity to share it with you. But we also have long terms plans for Scribe and Ars Poetica that include expansion packs, decks for specific industries (we already have a request to make a deck for therapists) and we are passionate about translating Scribe into at least five other languages in the next five years.

It might seem naive to say that we believe this game could pave the way for better communication, more inspired problem solving, and happier more creative people worldwide, but... we're pretty optimistic over here at Ars Poetica.

Who created Scribe?

Scribe started with Anthony McPherson and LAMARKS' idea at a pizza dinner, but Scribe grew and evolved with the help of many more contributors. Our wizard, Devin Person, contributed prompts and helped shape the rules, Eve Greenlow contributed and edited prompts as well as helped organize multiple test games, and Ars Poetica poets George Akolade Coker, Clare Marie Edgeman, Aekta Khubchandani, Nasimeh B.E., Olivia Dodd, Annie Barter, and Jamie Dawson all contributed prompts that ended up in the final deck. And of course our eternal debt is owed to our friend Odin Amador for the design and creation of our beloved Scribe mascot.
